Meeting of Working Group – Ukraine of Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations

On September 29 during the meeting of Working Group Ukraine of Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations Dr. Ricardo Giucci, Team leader of German Advisory Group, gave an evaluating lecture on the current economic developments in Ukraine with particular focus on local companies.

Before Dr. Giucci’s lecture Dr. Prothmann from Arbeitsstab Ukraine of Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a speech on political situation in the country. In the end of the meeting business representatives discussed their experiences in regards to business climate in Ukraine.

Participants came to the conclusion that in recent years the situation considerably improved, but there is still a major demand for further national reforms. Furthermore although certain achievements in reforms were achieved, the reform process itself was not dynamic enough. Major problems in the financing sector, as well as important issues of corruption and bureaucracy were also mentioned.
